When you see a young teenage girl stumbling barefoot along a dirty sidewalk, wearing skin-tight clothes and tears running down her face, how do you react? Eva Cortez was only fifteen when she was forced into the game by her older brother, who sold her soul to the devil himself on the streets of the infamous Sin City. Born into a family full of drug addicts and criminals, Evangeline had a hard time trying to become the only member of her family to be something better than dirt. But her wish never came true, and instead she became part of the scene she had been watching for as long as she could remember.
Joshua Lester was freshly twenty-one, and his pals treated him to a Vegas vacation to drink his sorrows away. Josh had just recently been through a difficult breakup with a girl he swore he was going to marry, but when he found her in bed with his best friend? That dream was shot to hell, and Joshua wanted nothing more than to forget everything and wash her out of his system. He just wanted something new and exciting in his life, something that made him feel good and worthy again. Maybe he should’ve been more specific, because whatever higher power ran Las Vegas gave him something way beyond his expectations.
With a beer in hand, and an obnoxious light-up hat on his head, Joshua was staggering along the Las Vegas Strip when he saw her. They were just outside the Bellagio hotel, that was displaying its magnificent water fountain show. Everyone’s eyes were captivated by the enormous lengths that the water was shooting up to, but this girl had gripped onto all his attention and clearly had no intention of letting go. He inched closer to her, watching her attentively as she fell to the ground. No one seemed to notice this damsel in distress, but Joshua alone. And Joshua alone dragged her away from the crowds of people, and somehow managed to carry her into the hotel, up to his suite and he placed her down carefully on the queen-sized bed. Joshua was absolutely mesmerized by the unconscious girl laying there on the mattress, and maybe it was the alcohol in his system, but there was something so innocent in the girl’s features. Regardless of the torn attire she was sporting. There was something about her that made him want to do anything in his power to make sure she was safe.
But now all he had to do was wait for her to wake up.

Stressing because he’s not mine. Sigh.
